Comprised of 10 foreign trade zones and 39 enterprises zones, California is connected to the rest of the world with 12 cargo airports and 11 cargo seaports, including the world's third-busiest port complex. California's economy is larger than that of every Asian country, other than Japan. It accounts for nearly 13% of the U.S. economy. More than US$240 billion in imports pass through California ports every year, much of it from Asia.
