Frankie Sum, Cisco Systems (HK) Ltd
As managing director for Cisco Systems' Hong Kong SAR operation, Frankie Sum has responsibilities for Cisco's sales, marketing, technical and service activities in Hong Kong SAR and Macau.
This includes working with resellers, distributors and partners to achieve a high touch sales model. Other activities include establishing effective marketing programs and business development.
Sum joined Cisco in January 1996 as general manager for Hong Kong SAR. He has also held other positions at Cisco including general manager for Greater China and operations director for Asia North. During his past few years at Cisco, Sum has helped the company expand its business throughout the Greater China region tremendously, dividing into three separate regions after two years of rapid growth under his leadership. Prior to Cisco he was general manager at Software AG, where he set up the German software giant's Hong Kong SAR and China operations.
Previously, Sum worked in a number of sales and management posts at IBM in Hong Kong SAR and Concurrent Computer in Hong Kong SAR, China and Taiwan, as well as Informix Software in Canada and Nixdorf Computer in the United States.
Sum graduated with a M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a B.S. degree in Mathematics from California State University, Fresno.
